Who Is Putnee?

Putnam Lee Gillispie, who's nick-name is Putnee, is from Santa Barbara, CA and has been performing for children since 1983. He earned his BA degrees in Psychology and Music from UCSB, and an MA in Psychology from Antioch University, with an emphasis on Child Development. In 1998 Putnee decided to follow his true passion to write children's music and to sing for children full-time.

Kids at many of the local preschools, throughout Santa Barbara, have grown up enjoying Putnee's weekly musical play-times.  Putnee's songs are very interactive. They combine music, singing, dancing and imaginative drama.   The lyrics of his original songs are funny, engaging, age-apropriate and never condescending. One song might tell a classic fairy tale, while another describes the joy of riding a roller coaster or becoming a rainbow fish swimming in a cave.  Putnee's gift is his ability to capture child's world in music. 

Putnee's program has grown out of 27 years of working with kids and his innate understanding of children, honed through a Master's Degree in Psychology and Child Development. His work is attuned to the developmental tasks of preschoolers, encouraging their natural self expression while building critical language and social skills.
